Auditions 2023
Becoming a part of the Music Theatre of Idaho family is a great honor. You are about to embark on an adventure that will change your life for the better. You will meet new friends, and gain skills in music, dance, and acting. You will learn self-discipline and self-control as well as commitment and responsibility. You will gain skills that will last a lifetime! It will never be easy, but it will be a lot of fun. The MTI family is an elite crew. We come from all walks of life, all skill levels, and every imaginable background. Come join us and change your life!!!
- Auditions for all Season 2023 shows will be held from 2:00 pm-9:00 pm on Friday, November 18. Auditions will be held at the Nampa Civic Center in Nampa, Idaho.
- Those auditioning must sign up for an audition time by filling out the on-line registration form linked to at the bottom of this page.
- As part of the registration process, you will be given the opportunity to indicate the number of shows you are willing to be cast in, and whether or not you are willing to do back-to-back shows. You will also be able to indicate which shows you are interested in by ranking them in priority order, (with 1 being the most interested and 5 being the least interested) and what shows you are not available for. Note that “Tick, Tick..., Boom!”, which only has a cast of 4, will be cast only from actors who are part of the company in 2022. All other shows/roles are available to everyone. The more shows you are available for, the more likely you will be to be cast. It is critical that you accurately indicate your availability and preferences on the form, as the on-line database will be the only source used for this information while we are casting.
- You will then be given a list of the roles in the shows you are available for which match your age and gender. You will be given the opportunity to indicate which roles you are particularly interested in. We reserve the right to cast you in whatever role we feel best meets the needs of the production, but your preferences will be taken into consideration.
- Each audition session will be 30 minutes in length, with up to 10 people in each session. For Season 2023, you must be 8 years old or older by the beginning of 2023, or a previous company member in order to audition.
- All those auditioning should prepare to present one excerpt of music from the approved audition list. The song chosen should show off the vocalist’s talents and vocal ranges. Click here for the approved song list. We will have copies of all the approved pieces at the audition site. We will NOT allow you to bring an outside accompanist. An accompanist will be provided. No CDs or tapes will be allowed. Vocalists who show up unprepared will be turned away. We only allow audition pieces from our ‘approved” list. Your registration confirmation e-mail will include a link to the approved song list
- A fee-based audition preparation service is available through the MTI. This service includes assistance in selecting audition music, preparation of that music and encouragement and coaching up to auditions. Go to broadwaynampa.org for more information and to register for assistance. This assistance is offered as a service and is in no way required in order to be cast.
- There will be no special session for children this year. Children should register for any convenient session. Parents will be allowed in the audition room during their child’s session.
- Each performer must upload a current photo of themselves to their audition registration. If you do not upload a picture, you will have one taken at the time of the audition.
Auditions are free and open to anyone with a desire to be a member of the most outstanding performing arts group in Idaho. All members, once chosen, pay a small membership fee in order to cover liability insurance and rehearsal space upkeep. No one is ever turned away for an inability to pay.
