The Music Theatre of Idaho, Resident Musical Theatre Company at the Nampa Civic Center, a proud presenter of Broadway Musicals and Innovator in Family Entertainment in the Treasure Valley, announces it¿s most innovative and community focused project to date. The Music Theatre of Idaho seeks to involve all families in the Treasure Valley in arts programming. It has long been established, through empirical research, that young people who participate in the arts, benefit greatly, both now and in the long term, as they have higher standardized test scores, read beyond grade level, and develop positive social attitudes (fewer negative encounters with law enforcement, better relationships with peers and mentors). The Music Theatre of Idaho seeks to be an innovator in positive community development, by creating opportunities for Arts Access to all families. To this end, the Music Theatre of Idaho has developed the Arts For Everyone program, which is supported by local community sponsors and individuals.
The Arts For Everyone program, which piloted in 2008, will continue in 2009 with increased enrollment and broader qualification guidelines. This program provides season tickets for Music Theatre of Idaho performances to low and moderate income families in the Treasure Valley. This broad scale program allows qualifying families to have up to six SEASON tickets to each of the MTI¿s 2009 productions (seven productions in all, featuring, Seussical, The Musical, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The King and I, Les Miserables, Sweet Charity, Disney¿s Beauty and the Beast and Annie.) The program works on a sliding scale (based on household income and number of persons in the household), with the lowest level of the scale receiving FREE admissions. The sliding scale is very generous, in terms of guidelines, creating very low priced season tickets for moderate income level families.
The primary goal of the Music Theatre of Idaho Arts For Everyone program is to get as many families into the theatre as possible. The MTI knows the valuable benefits that the arts can have on young people and their families. The MTI wants to be a community leader in creating positive assets in youth and families, while offering a family-centered entertainment opportunity.
